Property Description

5 bedroom house with 100m2, off grid, with solar system and fibre optics for phone and internet. Includes living room,
bathroom and a cozy farmhouse kitchen that has French doors leading to the decking along the front of the house, of 9m x 3m with views of your own valley. On the roof are new tiles and the house is freshly painted. There is a double compost toilet adjoining the house and also two big storage rooms/workshops underneath the house. The house is nice and cool in summer and warm & cozy in winter

Small building with 16m2, lies on the opposite side of the valley. It has two floors and could make a lovely small home with some TLC. There’s also a brick built shed and another shed made of wooden posts and tin roof.

There is a large, nicely fitted out Dodge truck near the main house, an old circus-wagon in the car park at the bottom of the land and an old caravan mostly used for guest and volunteers.

A second compost toilet for the guests near caravan and truck.

Land with 7ha, 10 natural springs of which 4 run reliably throughout the whole year filling pools or tanks, even in very dry summers, all gravity fed! Piped in around most of the land with taps. This helped to create over the course of 20 years, using organic principals, a very lush and healthy environment with a great biodiversity. A Permaculture haven with many different micro climates. Not many advanced projects like this around, so quite unique and must be seen to be appreciated.

The land has many mature trees therefore there are nice shady areas perfect to hide out during the summer.
The following list of trees and shrubs is just an indication :
apple, pears, plums, apricots, peaches, cherries, quinces, nesperas, oranges, mulberries, sharon fruit, figs, walnuts, hazels, chestnuts, madronhas, pecans, almonds, 50 mature olive trees, grape and kiwi vines, mature bamboo patch, mature oak forest, big poplars as shade trees, willows, including “weeping”, linden-Telia trees, palm trees, yuccas, alder, paulownia, chestnut, walnuts, red oak, hackberry, golden rain, mana-ash, honey locust, sumach, mulberry.

A great amount of berries, like logan berries, currents, gooseberries, raspberries and many other shrubs.

More unusual trees like siberian peatree, whitebeam, labarnun, rowen tree, ginkgo, elaeagnus’, peppertrees, Indian bean tree, sycamore, ash, silverbirch, saskatoon,

All set on terraces and the whole bottom of the valley. There are large vegetable garden areas with plenty of water to keep them happy. In the past there have been many tours over the land and workshops on subjects all to do with self sufficient living and forest gardening. A PDC was run
here. Plenty of shade for camping .

Located between the river Mondego and Póvoa de Midões lies this piece of paradise at the end of a private track, secluded yet close to the river and town.

Close to some little villages and Tábua and Oliveira do Hospital 10min drive with all amenities and a Sunday market. In the area are kids, babies and some really nice people even a yurt builder and dome maker. There’s a thriving community of expats, with a wide range of weekly
activities. Local people are very friendly, kind and helpful, many still immersed in the farming tradition, with a wealth of husbandry knowledge and experience. It’s a short walk to the river and there are some lovely river beaches nearby.
Loads of potential including communal based living, several
families, ecotourism, courses and workshops, retreat centre or live the natural and peaceful life.

A great opportunity for example sustainability, self-sufficiency, permaculture and forest gardening. You can move straight in and start enjoying your dream, as a lot of the hard work has been done!
