It has the best water supply in Monchique. During the 2005 drought, it still had the best source of running water. It also boasts the Spring of La Juan de Baptiste, which is the oldest natural source of Monchique. Its history dates back circa three hundred years. During the winter, it produces more than 30,000 litres per day of bottleable quality water. Even during the dry summer, it produces about five to ten thousand litres per day.
Land with 3.14ha, eucalyptus, cork oaks, terraced gardens, the cork oak produced a year income of 6,000euros. It has several terraces for the cultivation of organic produce and fruit trees. The feed mill lagoon would be ideal to produce organic Watercress. It has sunshine from eight in the morning until four in the afternoon winter and summer. It’s cool in the summer. It has been visited many times by ornithologists as it is a paradise for butterflies. The soil is
rich and fertile.
The property was bought by its current owner in 2005 with the intention of transforming it into an ecological paradise, but unfortunately health problems caused the project not to continue. He would be happy to discuss the property’s eco possibilities with potential buyers. He was planning to go with a team of people in April to completely clear the land etc and tidy up but Covid put a stop to this for now. He does aim to get back as soon as possible to clean it up.
