Village property which is close to the very centre of Portugal.

It offers enough Grapes for around 1000 bottles of wine a year along with Olives, Lemon, Orange, Peach, Pomegranate, Fig and others. Very good soil for easy cultivation of almost anything, especially fruit and vegetables.

Just over 2000m2 of the area is designated with the Câmara as urban, which means you can build another house on it. The last time we looked at doing just that I think the footprint allowed was around 250m2.

We’d planned for a new-build at the top of the land with views of the lake to the rear, village to one of the sides and mountain and forest to the other aspects. Building costs are very, very low here and the quality is good. I have good connections.

There’s a bore-hole for the land and non-consumption requirements – washing, showers, cleaning, etc – along with town water for cooking and anything else.. Electricity is a 15KW supply with a reduced night tariff and a three phase output as well. The land is irrigated by pipes via an automated system.

The house was built in the early eighties and you’ll see from the images it isn’t modern by some standards, but that said, it’s a very easy ‘refresh’ if required.

It’s an extremely peaceful village and you won’t find a shop – they are fifteen minutes away – but you will be able to buy fresh bread and fish from visiting vans everyday.

Despite the fact it lies on a 70km lake there’s only ever a handful of tourists in evidence – the council recently built a by-pass to take this occasional traffic on a scenic route.

Plenty of potential to earn and live independently. I wish I was younger!

It’s the first house seen of around one hundred others when entering the village.

We’ve lived there for sixteen glorious years and are sorry to be leaving.

The nearest Municipal town is Serta and it’s not too far from the Historic City of Tomar.

Along with some of the purest air and most breath-taking scenery in Portugal, it benefits from Lake, Forest, Mountain and Village views.
