Property Description

A schist ruin, ideal for converting into a small room or eco bathroom.

Land with 800m2, ideal for off the grid living in friendly surroundings. The land is mainly flat (ideal for cabin, yurt, tipi). Water runs for most of the year and there is a pipe to bring water the rest of the time from a mountain spring further up the hill.

This is an area that suffered the forest fires of last year and the vegetation around has been damaged. The cork trees and other broadleaf are coming back, it will take some time for the pines to regenerate. Never the less living there means being part of a community that is acting for a sustainable future and chose to stay and replant the areas.

Located in the valleys surrounding the active and vibrant Benfeita area. Nestled in a quiet corner facing the ecological reserve of Mata da Margaraça. The land is peaceful and quiet, and has some friendly neighbours within 2 minutes walk. There is no direct access, a track by 4X4 gets to the top of it, and otherwise it takes 7 minutes to walk from the village to the land on the traditional schist path which is a beautiful walking trail.

It is an ideal place for someone wanting to live off the grid, grow some vegetables and enjoy peace and nature within an area of active community with nice social life when wanted. The villagers are very friendly and offer great wisdom to those who wish to listen.

Since the size of the land is quite small it is easily manageable. It is possible to buy more adjacent land if required.

See the pictures of my yurt before the fire to get an idea of the possibility it offers.
