Property Description

Mountain house with 138m2, with habitation licence for renovation. This 2 storey house traditionally has an upper floor which was used as habitation & ground floor to keep animals or use as a cellar. Mains electricity is not connected, although it is just nearby & there is a good 4G network.

Outside has a small enclosed yard with 46m2, pigpen & an attached garage/shed.

Located in the Serra da Estrela, near the city of Guarda, on the edge of a small hamlet, with good sun exposure, overlooking the town of Belmonte and the beautiful Cova da Beira. The view is absolutely astonishing. A must see!

Nearly all the houses in the hamlet are built in granite. In the centre there is a communal water tank for washing laundry and a fountain from a natural spring that feeds the house with clean, fresh, drinking water, all year round, entirely for free. There is also a communal wood fired bread baking oven in use.

Although the hamlet is only 4km from the park of Serra da Estrela, it is also only 8km from the city of Guarda where you can find services like shops, supermarkets, schools, hospital, spa, bus & train station as well as cultural & leisure amenities. Distances: 15min to Guarda; 16min to the motorway A23; 2h13min to Porto; 3h to Lisbon; 44min to Spain.

There is the possibility of buying a smaller house also which is right by the fountain (gbh10-fountain-house) in the same hamlet. This could be ideal if you would like an independent space to host friends & family, volunteers, or even rent the space to make an extra income.
