Property Advertised by: Owner

Property Description

A schist ruin that was rebuilt as a two-storey house with a combined area of about 20m2 and has been damaged by the fires.

Land with 2.6ha, 35000l capacity reinforced concrete tank that has gravity water to the land and house. Three water sources, one of which feeds the reservoir and which subsequently follows the Largo da casa.
The surrounding flora consisted mostly of native vegetation in the south (chestnut, oak, birch, heather, carqueja, etc.) and in the north there are pine trees. There are some fruit trees that resisted the fire (Oliveira, arbutus) among others that will recover naturally.

We have lived here off grid for 5 years and have always sought to integrate the principles of permaculture with the aim of enhancing the environment and ensuring our sustainability.

Situated less than 1km from the nearest village (Caratao) set on the hillside at an average altitude of 500m. It has stunning views for those looking for a quiet and very private place.

The space was hit by the fires in October 2017. As a result the house has been reduced to the walls but the water tank is undamaged.

The property is relatively close to many local trade and emerging communities sharing this lifestyle as well as nature-oriented tourist sites (eg Benfeita, Colmeal, Barril de Alva, Gois, Fraga da Pena, etc.)

We are looking for someone who also shares a love and respect for nature.
