From the courtyard, entrance is via a wooden floored hallway which passes into a spacious sitting room with wood panelled ceiling, containing a large beamed fireplace with wood burner and full length double doors onto an ornamental balcony, with views of the natural park and a ridge dotted with windmills. Off the sitting room are two bedrooms. One currently has a double bed and the other has bunkbeds. There is a door to the front of the house that opens onto a cycle/walking track that runs past the property. The bathroom contains a bath with overhead shower. There are wooden shutters throughout.

Smaller house 218m2 to include pool and patio. This is a sweet old cottage is the original house. It is all on one level.

Entrance from the courtyard into a large room with fireplace and wood burner. Built in sofa bed. High ceiling. Small kitchen with back door onto the garden and connected to a pantry with skylight. There is also a nice, light bathroom with freestanding shower, no bath.

Grounds with 2,240m2. The garden has several different areas. The first contains a small swimming pool (with planning permission) There is a patio and lawn beyond the pool with fruit trees (orange, fig, different plums, cherries), veg plot, some vines and raised bed. Beyond that there is a sloping field area, stone goats shed, threshing floor and some oak and a couple of pine trees, shrubs, which make a nice cool shady spot in the summer with a hammock! Dry stone walling mark the boundaries and there is entrance from a track via a wooden gate at the bottom.


Location

The property is in a small hamlet 12 minutes drive from Porto de Mós, 30 minutes from Leiria, 35 minutes from Nazaré (the nearest beach), 5 minutes from Mendiga (small village with doctors, Post Office, supermarket, café and spring water fountain) and 1hr 20 minutes from Lisbon airport.

Access is down a short, reasonably well maintained, council track. The property is detached with nearest neighbours about 150m. There are many walks directly onto the mountain in both directions. It is very peaceful and a bird watcher’s paradise. There is even a resident eagle!

Being approx, 560m above sea level, it does not get as hot as inland areas in the summer, nor does it get the sea fog of the coast. Winters are mild with a rare light frost.
