Property Description

The property is located in the very beautiful valley of Vale Lourenco. This distinctive and secluded home has been sympathetically restored in the late 1990’s on the site of an old watermill to provide a large attractive 4 bedroomed home with all the comforts of modern living whilst still retaining its original charm and character.

This is a very private property set on 2 acres of terraced land, it overlooks the delightful Arronches River which runs through the property for almost 240 metres.

There are 180 olive trees in the grounds together with grape vines, fig, orange, lemon, cherry, apple, pear, apricot and chestnut trees. The secluded terraces of olives and vines have been uncultivated and ungrazed for many years and this has produced a pristine habitat for wild flowers, insects, butterflies and herbs.

The house was let as a very successful holiday rental for many years.

The house itself comprises:

A large entrance hall with traditional Alentejan fireplace and a mezzanine floor which is presently used for storage.

4 double bedrooms. The en-suite bedroom has an internal door to the house and an external door leading directly to a private outdoor area making it an ideal self contained unit for B&B use.

2 bathrooms, one with shower and the other with bath and shower.

Fully equipped kitchen.

Large open plan dining and sitting area with wood burning stove.

The sitting area has direct access through two large full length patio doors to a wooden decked terrace which runs the full length of the house and gives spectacular views down to the river and up to the peak of Sao Mamede. This is a place for relaxing with its marvellous views. The loudest sounds are birdsong, distant goat bells and the gurgling of the river.

Outside storage and parking.

Covered outdoor area which could be converted into another bedroom or large utility room.
