Guide & Facilitator

Transitioning to the good life can seem intimidating at first: another country, an unusual language, a different culture, and atypical customs.

On the other hand, Portugal is worth the effort and a little push can go a long way. In order to hit the ground running, I’m offering you my services as a guide and a facilitator.

Guide

You would like to visit properties seen on PurePortugal? But you don’t yet know your way around the country? You speak a few words of Portuguese but maybe not enough to ask all the important questions to the owners? You would be more at ease if you were accompanied by someone with experience buying a property in Portugal and related administrative processes?

Well, I could be your guide: I can come with you to visit properties. I will help you with translations when needed, and suggest questions I would ask if it was for me. I can also give you a hand coordinating with owners/agents to make the best of your time and, if required, I can even drive you around, from property to property.

Cost:
Trip (0.20c/km + tolls)* + fee 40€
* From Guarda and back + trip(s) to visit property/ies (if requested)

E.g. visiting 4 properties around Castelo Branco:
Trip Guarda – Castelo Branco – Guarda: 200km*0.20c = 40€
Tolls: 6,60€
Touring between properties (optional): 50km*0.20c = 10€
Fee for my time: 40€

That’s it; you found the property of your dreams! But you’re not sure how to proceed?
The two first basic steps are to:
Get a fiscal identification number (número de identificação fiscal or NIF)
Open a Portuguese bank account

Let me be your facilitator: I will take you to Finanças (Portuguese fiscal administration offices) and to a bank in the town of your choice. Getting a NIF and opening a bank account shouldn’t take more than a day –and I will do the ground work for you. That means I will locate the most convenient Finanças office as well as make an appointment in a bank that suits you, with an English speaking agent.

A few words about me
I’m a 36 year old Belgo-Dutch citizen living in Portugal. Last year, with my wife Shahnaz, I bought a quinta in rural Portugal (close to Guarda). We’re in the process of reviving our little farm, which was abandoned 15 years ago. Our goal is to create a place of retreat and leisure, close to nature, and adapted to the challenges of our times.

By accompanying newcomers for their first steps in Portugal, my goal is to help you swiftly tackle some actions that might be seen as daunting. I’m relatively new here as well, but I would gladly share my experience and my Portugal with you. I’m still learning Portuguese but I always get my message across.

I’m flexible in terms of how far to go from Guarda, but past a certain distance, it probably won’t be cost-efficient for you. You can learn more about me here: casabeatrix.pt or by dropping me a line at cramer.francois@gmail.com
