Stream-side property with a large stone ruin, 1 rebuilt annexe and a caravan. 9,000m2 agricultural and forest land

Property Advertised by: Owner

Property Description

Lovely little stream-side property enclosed by surrounding nature reserve, forest and pastures / meadowns. The land slopes gently to the south and east and receives all day sun, summer and winter.

The very fertile terraces around and above the streams are waiting for caring hands to rejuvenate their previous richness. Ideal for an organic self-sufficient existence.

The size of the land measures 9,010 m2.

The old granite ruin (10x10meters) is a registered living house that needs to be renovated to its earlier glory when it was home to simple sheep farmers of past times.

An  architectural plan is available as a guide line for a two storey house.

There is a large caravan under a roof structure that is also is included in the sale. It has a WC that is connected to a (large) septic tank that sits at the lower part of the land. The caravan is out-of-use for some time and needs to be renovated.

There is an annexe building that was rebuilt. This building is composed of a room with double insulation – walls and ceiling – and a chimney. At present it can be used as a storage space but can be converted. It has basic electric wiring and a outside fuse box, from here it can be connected to the grid if necessary. Left and right from this room there are storage spaces.

One of the wells was cleaned and build up into a pump house.

There are two wells with year-round water for irrigation and house-hold needs.

There’s plenty of room for putting up yurts or other temporary constructions for holiday guests.

Off-grid at the moment, it is only 100m from a sealed road where connection to the national power system is possible. There is excellent access by a short forest road to the sealed road.

The land is wonderfully isolated from the nearby villages, 2-3km away, whose distant church bells faintly toll the passing hours.

Seixo da Beira has a nursery/crèche and primary school, medical centre, open-air swimming pools, post office, ATM outlet, mini-mercados, cafes, restaurants and a daily bus service to the county seat of Oliveira do Hospital. Excellent roads link to other cities Seia and Nelas, 10-15km away which have all the amenities of modern life, including supermarkets, major hospitals and bus and rail links to Porto, Lisbon and the rest of Europe.

The nearest beach at Figueira da Foz is 90 minutes driving by freeway.

Seia is the entrance city for the Serra da Estrela mountain range, Portugal’s highest point.
