“Tapada do Prado” is a property that sits on the edge of the village of Medelim, (know as ‘The Village of Balconies) just off the beautiful road linking the village to Penamacor.  Medelim is a friendly village, with basic services (bakery and grocery store, cafes, post office, pharmacy, gas station, …), the historic village of Monsanto lies just a few kilometres away.

It lies around 18km from the dam in Idanha-a-Nova where the famous Boom Festival is held every two years. The main town of Idanha-a-Nova is approximately 24km and there one can find a variety of “cafés”, restaurants plus a health centre, schools, hypermarket, cinema, library, paper shops, etc. and both open and covered swimming pools. Situated around 25km from the Spanish border with the nearby city of Moraleja being a bustling market town. Just a couple of villages away is the world heritage UNESCO Ichnological park where there is a wonderful fossil route to walk and a stunning natural swimming pool fed by the dam which is used also for swimming. Just further along the road is the Spa town of Termas de Monfortinho which boasts a natural spa and some lovely swimming and relaxing areas.
