2 bed schist house ready to move in on 3 acres land
Photo Gallery for this property.
A traditional ‘schist’ stone house that has been completely renovated to a high standard with many interesting features. The property is in good decorative order with beautiful wooden ceilings with large exposed beams, interior pine wood doors and surrounds, wooden windows and patio doors, and polished wood floors.
The exterior walls are exposed schist stone, traditional of the area, with schist columns, garden walls, steps and pathways – giving the whole place a rustic picture-book look. On the first floor is a wooden, covered balcony, on two sides of the house with views looking down across the land.
The property is two storey and consists of:
2 double bedrooms both with patio doors leading out to the wooden, covered balcony. Both bedrooms have varnished wood floors, beamed ceilings and one has fitted wardrobes. Both bedrooms have radiators for heating.
A large fully tiled bathroom with toilet, pedestal sink, bidet, and bath with shower above, and heated towel rails.
Cloakroom/storage space.
Fully tiled kitchen with fitted wall and base units and granite work surfaces. Within the kitchen is a very handy walk-in larder.
A large reception/lounge area is situated on the ground floor, with a built-in wood burning stove. The lounge has a terracotta tiled floor and wooden ceiling.
Mains electricity and mains water are connected, and there are telephone and internet connections – though these are disconnected at present. Bottled gas is used for the hob and central heating.
There are two separate patio areas, ideal for outside dining, both paved with rustic stone and have balustrade surrounds.
Steps lead down to another very interesting area where an old schist stone reservoir has been restored to make it into a long and narrow swimming pool ! This has nearly been completed but does need finishing - estimated 1,000 euro to finish. This area is built into the granite rock face and has a stone paved sunbathing area and a stream flowing nearby – very peaceful.
The house is on an area of 11,328m2 (near 3 acres) of land, consisting of a sloping wooded area with pines, oaks and chestnut trees, and a lower fertile flat area which is bordered by a stream. This area consists of a variety of fruit trees including peach, pear, cherry and apple, and also a large grove of hazelnut trees.
Vehicle access is down a quite steep cobbled track leading right to the house, with parking nearby. A stone garage/storage shed is built into the hillside.
Located near the villages of Cerdeira and Casal S. Joao, which have bars and shops and are less than 1km away. The lovely riverside town of Coja, with its shops, bars, restaurants, banks, post office, health centre, etc. is only 2.5 km away. Coja is situated on the River Alva and has several river beaches.
The bustling market town of Arganil, in Central Portugal, is just 14km away.
