This 3 bedroom detached cottage is set in a rural location. The cottage, which is set over one floor, measures 125m2 of construction and has aluminium framed doors and wooden framed windows. It is in need of some renovation work but is basically habitable.
The cottage has been constructed in red brick and finished with a traditional render. The main entrance leads directly into a living room, which has a concrete floor. Off this living room there is a hallway, which runs the depth of the building. Off the hallway there are 3 bedrooms, all of which have concrete floors.
The kitchen is located at the rear of the cottage and has a concrete floor and traditional style fireplace to one corner. Some of the walls of the kitchen are part tiled and there is a stainless steel sink and drainer in situ, though little else. There is a spacious dining room off the kitchen, which is accessed via an archway.
The dining room also provides access to a second hallway which has an exterior door leading to the front of the house. Off this hallway there is a partially tiled bathroom. The bathroom has a bath, pedestal sink and toilet. Although functional, would benefit from renovations being carried out.
Adjacent to the bathroom there is a second living room or entertainment room. This room is accessed externally, though with a little work could be incorporated into the main living accommodation. The cottage is connected to both mains water and electricity.
The cottage also has a block built outbuilding, set over one floor.
The cottage is set in an elevated position with good views over the surrounding forest. It is set on a plot measuring 10,196m2 (over 2.5 acres). The majority of the land is forest and there are a large number of pine and eucalyptus, which can provide a modest income when harvested. There are also some mature olive trees as well as palm and fruit trees immediately surrounding the cottage. There are neighbouring properties in the vicinity but none which impede privacy.
The cottage is situated on the outskirts of the small village of Cardal in central Portugal. The closest town to the property is located at Ferreira do Zêzere, which is only 8km drive. Ferreira do Zêzere has a range of shops, cafes, restaurants, schools, sports centre, health centre, public library, banks, supermarkets and builders merchants.
The historic town of Tomar, which is home to the UNESCO listed Convento do Cristo, is around 20 minutes drive from the property. Tomar is a bustling market town and has a wide range of independent shops, bars, restaurants, historic monuments, parks, schools, hospital, university, health centres, bus and train station and art galleries.
The property is a 2 minutes drive from Castelo do Bode lake, which is popular for all kinds of water sport activities. Castelo do Bode lake is a man-made reservoir, built in the 1950s and is currently Portugal's second largest. Castelo do Bode is a haven for all kinds of wildlife and you can relax in one of the many coves and sandy beaches which have been created.
The closest airport to the property is situated at Lisbon, which is around 1hr 45 minutes by car. Lisbon airport is serviced by a variety of low cost airlines which operate regular flights into and out of the United Kingdom and other European countries.
