The roof is made from Riga (Nordic Pine), with all the beams and joists visible, and is properly insulated with 4cm polypropylene. The eaves are double (beirado Portuguese duplo), wiring, bathrooms, kitchen, etc. are all new, and the plumbing uses Pex replaceable tubing. Where feasible the stone walls have been left unrendered but with natural lime grout.

Situated in the centre of a village just inside the Parque Nacional de Montejunto (Montejunto National Park), the village has a couple of shops, several cafés and a bus service. Only 45 minutes from Lisbon and about 25 minutes from the beach.
