This quinta of 3.9 hectares is located in Maceira, in a valley in the Natural Park of São Mamede below the medieval town of Marvão (a World Heritage site candidate) and about a 10 minute drive from Castelo de Vide, another medieval town. From this secluded property, with its small terraced 'monte', there are panoramic views over hillsides covered with forests of chestnut and cork trees, and stretching as far as the Serra de Estrela.
The house itself is a complete ruin with a footprint of 114m2. The park and local council allows for a recuperation of the house structure of up to 250m2 of building footprint. There is also a stone animal shed that can be rebuilt and enlarged.
There is abundant water all year round coming from a small stream which begins at a spring feeding into two large ponds and forms the limit of one part of the property and continues on through the rest of the land. There is another spring with two ponds at the main entrance and another spring further up the hillside. A borehole has also been sunk.
Since this property had been cultivated and farmed at one time, one part of the hillside is divided into a series of interconnecting terraces for easy tractor access, and the other part is a forest of oak, cork oak, chestnut, and olive trees. As well as a small olive grove there are orange, sour cherry, greengage, plum, and mulberry trees.
With so much water and so many trees, this property is a wonderful cool oasis especially during the hot dry summer months.
