Photo Gallery for this property.
Sympathetically restored restaurant with 320 seats, together with a restored 3 bed house.
The restaurant is very well established, is sought after as a wedding reception venue, as well as holding conference and business functions, with bookings already confirmed for 2010. The restaurant has previously featured in several national magazines and has a good regular customer base.
The sale of the property includes all fixtures and fitments for the restaurant including wrought iron tables, chairs, soft furnishing for the chairs, cutlery, crockery and catering equipment.
The property briefly comprises:
Restaurant - The restaurant has three function suites, which can be kept separated or combined for larger occasions.
The main function suite is triple aspect and has a marble cobbled floor which matches the exterior paths and patios. This main dining area has a large stone archway with serving balconies and exposed stone walls and has a capacity of 220 people.
The second function suite is located within the original wine store of the property. The wine store has been completely restored and also has exposed stone walls and a tiled floor. This function suite has a capacity of 70 and is split over two levels, thus providing an entertainment area such as a dance floor if needed. The ceiling of this function suite is vaulted and the roof beams are exposed.
The third function suite is situated within the original farmhouse and is much smaller and ideal for more intimate events, having a capacity of 30. This function suite has a polished wooden floor and exterior access doors which lead out to the restaurants gardens.
All of the function suites have access to male and female bathrooms, which are fully tiled and modern in design.
The restaurant's kitchen is fully equipped with the latest stainless steel cabinetry, food preparation balconies and storage cupboards. Industrial extractor fans ensure the temperate within the kitchen remains ambient. There are several large, multi burn range hobs, convection ovens, as well as stainless steel industrial dishwashers.
House - The house is set over two floors and has been restored to very high level with attention to detail in the finishing. There is a spacious 54m2 living room which has a chestnut parquet floor with an oak and chestnut ceiling. A large antique fireplace sits to one corner and an exterior access door leads out to one of the property's terraces.
The house has three spacious en-suite bedrooms, all of which have sandstone tiled floors. The first bedroom has two sets of patio doors which overlook the east and west gardens. The en-suite bathroom is partially tiled, has a large bath, 'his and hers' vanity basin, toilet and a large built-in wardrobe.
The second bedroom has an oak and chestnut beamed ceiling. The en-suite bathroom is complete with 'his and hers' vanity basins, toilet, shower and is fully tiled.
The third bedroom has a balcony window which faces south over the property's garden. The en-suite bathroom is fully tiled and has a shower, vanity basin and toilet.
The kitchen can be accessed either from the hallway or from the living room. It has a high-resistance sandstone tiled floor and a ceiling in chestnut and pine.
The property is connected to both mains water and electricity and there is a well on the land.
Gardens: The property is set on a plot measuring 5,050m2 (1.25 acres) and the gardens around the restaurant and house are landscaped with a variety of indigenous shrubs and plants including bougainvillea. Throughout the gardens there are private seating areas, which are reached by marble cobbled paths or wooden decked walk ways. The current owners of the property have paid a lot of attention to detail in the design of the garden ensuring wedding receptions have a variety of locations to site photographs. There are lawns and a good variety of mature trees including a 100 year old olive tree.
The property is situated in a slightly elevated position and therefore has good views over the surrounding countryside. It even has views to Ourem Castle, which is a 10 minutes drive away. The restaurant and house are situated in a small village, and are only a short drive into the neighbouring towns of Fatima and Ourem in Central Portugal.
Fatima is a town well known around the world since the 1930s and the religious visions of the children. Fatima receives thousands of visitors each year who make the pilgrimage to visit the sight of these visions. Fatima is a busy town with a large variety of shops, cafes, supermarkets and a bus station.
The larger town of Ourem, which is slightly less bustling than Fatima, is a 10 minutes drive from the property, and also has a good variety of shops, cafes, banks, pharmacies, health centres, and a rising population.
The closest airport to the property is situated at Lisbon, which is one and a half hours by car.
