CT120-2: Farm Cottage (510/10)
SOLDRestored 2 bed farmhouse cottage, plus cottage to renovate on 1.25 acres
Photo Gallery for this property.
A 2 bedroom restored stone farmhouse plus a detached stone cottage.
The main farmhouse cottage has been fully and tastefully restored, whilst the second cottage does require renovating. The property is ideal for someone who is looking for a property with which to earn a future income.
Main farmhouse cottage is set over two floors and is constructed in stone with stone window and door surrounds. All of the internal doors to the cottage are wooden with wrought iron furniture and are traditional in style for the period of the property.
The main entrance to the cottage is via a wooden 'stable' door, leading directly into the kitchen. The kitchen has a tiled floor and traditional style wooden ceiling and a good range of built-in base and eye level kitchen units with tiled splash backs. An Aga range, with integrated oven and ceramic hob, is installed and also provides heating to the room as well as to two radiators within the house. There is also a ceramic sink and drainer, the whole look is very country cottage.
Off the kitchen there is a spacious dining room, which also has a tiled floor and traditional style wooden ceiling as well as feature exposed stone to some of the walls. The dining room is double aspect and has part-glazed double doors leading out to a covered area to the front of the house. A wooden staircase from the dining room leads up to the first floor.
The staircase opens up into a spacious living room which has a wooden floor and traditional style wooden ceiling. The living room has double wooden doors which lead out to a wide stone terrace at the front of the cottage. This terrace has a set of stone steps leading down to the driveway and garden and provides good views over the surrounding countryside.
There are two double bedrooms to the first floor, both of which have wooden floors and ceilings. The bathroom is also located on the first floor and is partially tiled. It contains a bath with a separate corner hydro-massage shower, toilet, pedestal sink, and a linen closet.
Connected to mains water and electricity.
To the front of the main cottage there is a traditional cobbled driveway, which does require some repair work carrying out, with wrought iron gates. There are a number of stone built, single storey, animal and storage buildings to one side of this driveway which provide ideal storage for gardening equipment and logs.
The second cottage has it's own title deed and has been registered for habitation purposes. This cottage is also constructed in stone, is set over two floors and has a single storey stone extension, which could be incorporated into the overall living space. It does require renovation work to be carried out.
The ground floor has a large, vehicle entrance door with stone surround as well as a personnel access door to the side. It is currently one open space and has a wooden staircase leading to the first floor. The first floor accommodation has a wooden floor and wooden beamed roof and wooden framed windows to two aspects. The single storey part of the cottage is accessed independently, though an internal doorway would be possible. This single storey section of the cottage has a dirt floor and a wooden beamed roof and is currently divided into two rooms. Opposite this single storey section of the cottage there is an open fronted stone storage building.
The property is set on 5,040m2 (over 1.25 acres) of fertile land. It has a large amount of olive and fruit trees including orange, lemon, fig and nespera. A large stone drying circle could be used as a patio area as there are great views across the countryside. The land is gently sloping and there are terraces though plenty of flat areas and space for a swimming pool if required.
There are neighbouring properties, though the property is private and set in a peaceful and quiet location. The closest village to the property is situated at Chaos, which is a five minutes drive. Chaos has several cafes, a mini-market, bakers and monthly market.
The larger, historic town of Tomar, which is home to the UNESCO listed Convento do Cristo, is 10 minutes drive from the property. Tomar has a range of restaurants, shops, cafes, bars, banks, pharmacies, builders merchants, schools and sports centres as well as a range of historic monuments.
The town of Ferreira do Zêzere is a 15 minutes drive, and also has a range of shops, cafes, restaurants, school, butchers, bakers, banks and bus station.
The closest airport to the property is situated at Lisbon, which is one and a half hours by car. Lisbon airport is serviced by a variety of low cost airlines, which operate regular flights into and out of the United Kingdom and other European countries.
