Smallholding Co-Ownership
We are a married couple from England, at present living here in Portugal. We are looking for others who are interested in sharing the ownership of a smallholding with a view to supporting a simple, low impact, sustainable lifestyle (with a washing machine, albeit a shared one). The living spaces would be separate and independent, while other key facilities and equipment shared. (One of the few things we really miss living here in Portugal is delicious fresh organic milk; for us this makes a cow an essential in life, and a cow is too much for one couple - shared she becomes feasible).
We can envisage this co-ownership as possible in either of two ways:
- there are others, like ourselves, looking to buy a smallholding and want to share the experience, the work and the cost/investment.
- there are individuals who have already bought a smallholding and now wish to share the experience, the work and the cost/investment.
As well as some funds we bring to this enterprise extensive experience in:
- renovating and rebuilding property; also installing sanitation, wood burning stoves, etc.
- the actual living of a low impact, simple (but enjoyable) life style
- organic and biodynamic horticulture, gardening and small scale farming
- vegetarian cooking
- managing and sustaining viable relationships
- business management and I.T. experience (to keep us connected to a global world)
Our preferred area for the project is central Portugal or further north, living in a quiet, beautiful, unspoilt valley setting, with fertile land.
