Our Team had a meeting in another amazing farm. This time in Vinhó, Gouveia.

We started doing a check-up through all Pure Portugal areas and quickly we’ve noticed that Pure Portugal community is growing very fast! And we feel thankful to support, share and help people making connections, as this is our main purpose!
And now our priority now is to launch the new french website. So, “Pure Portugal en Français” is coming very soon!

We had a great lunch at the restaurant and in the afternoon we had a guided visit tour around the farm. So we were able to meet the horses, the Serra da Estrela breed dogs and many stray dogs that this quinta helps. They are the lucky ones! All animals are in a very good conditions!
Also saw a newly born baby sheep and one of the babies was very curious about us and came to our hands. Lovely!

We are very proud to say that Quinta Madre de Água belongs to a Portuguese couple who wanted to return to their roots, through a sustainable project that respects nature, man, art and traditions.

The farm project started because they needed space for the animals they rescued, specially stray dogs and now this project, with a total area of 60 hectares, has:

– rural hotel and a restaurant,
– cheese factory, producing the famous certified cheese of Serra da Estrela
– a sheepfold and a herd of 300 sheep of the Bordaleira breed
– a stud farm that praises and preserves the purebred Lusitana horse
– In the future a century-old wine cellar will be restored and additions will be made, and this is where the Madre de Água wines will be vinified.

In the Quinta Madre de Água they make cheese, jams, olive oil and wine.
